Hand-carved from one substantial piece of solid English oak with a live-edge grain and a medium oak tone, so each one is unique. The 13.3kg slab base keeps it planted while a cat works the post.
The column is wrapped in thick 12mm sisal with a wide circumference of 69cm, giving a big surface for reaching or horizontal scratches. Adjustable legs level it on uneven floors, and it needs no assembly.

Sophisticated Scratch is a small family workshop in Devon, England, at work since 2017. Each piece is cut and built to order by hand from sustainable English oak, so the wait is a little longer than a mass-market post and no two are quite alike.
Why oak and sisal
Solid oak gives the weight that keeps a scratcher from tipping when a cat throws itself at it, and the sisal rope is the texture cats actually want to work. The natural oak limbs mean the grain and shape vary from one to the next, which is the point.
