What is The Meow Picks?

We are a small, curated shop for cats. We gather design-led, well-made pieces from independent makers around the world, and carry only a short, considered edit of them, chosen one at a time. There is more on our About page.

Do you only sell things for cats?

Yes. The Meow Picks is cat-only, from the furniture to the smallest accessory. It is the whole point of the shop.

Where do your products come from?

From independent makers around the world. Some are close to home, others are studios abroad whose work most shops never reach. Bringing the best of it across borders to you, wherever you are, is much of what we do.

How do you decide what to carry?

We keep the list short on purpose, and hold everything to the same standard: made to last, right for the cat, and worth keeping. Our How We Choose page explains it in full.

Buying from partners
Why do some products take me to another store?

Some pieces we feature are sold by partner brands and retailers rather than by us. It lets us bring you more of the best cat design in one place. When a product is a partner's, the page says so, and the button takes you to their own site to finish the purchase. When it is ours, you check out right here and the maker ships it to you directly. Either way, we may earn a commission on a partner sale, at no extra cost to you, which we explain in our Disclosure.

Who handles shipping and returns for partner products?

The partner does. For a partner purchase, your order, payment, shipping, and returns are all handled on their site, under their policies, so it is worth reading their shipping and returns terms before you buy. If you are not sure who handled an order, or where to start, write to us and we will help you find your way.

Do partner purchases support cat rescue too?

They do. Our giving comes out of proceeds, and that includes the commission we earn on partner sales, so buying through a partner link supports cat rescue in the same way a direct order does. There is more on our Giving page.

Orders & shipping
Where do you ship?

We ship across borders, which is much of what we do. At checkout you will see whether we can ship to your address, along with the options and the cost.

How much does shipping cost, and how long does it take?

Both are worked out and shown at checkout, since they depend on the item and where it is going. Some pieces ship quickly from nearby; others travel from a maker abroad and take longer. Our Orders & Shipping page has the detail.

Will I have to pay customs or duties?

For orders that cross a border, duties are handled at checkout wherever we can, included in the total so the price you see is the price you pay. In some cases the carrier collects them instead, and we make that clear before you pay.

Why did my order arrive in more than one parcel?

Because we carry many independent makers, an order with pieces from more than one of them ships separately, often on different days, each parcel with its own tracking.

Can I change or cancel my order?

If you need to change or cancel an order, write to us as soon as possible. Changes can only be made within 24 hours of ordering, or before the order ships, whichever comes first. After that we are usually unable to make a change, and a new order is the simplest fix.

How do I track my order?

We email you a tracking link once a parcel ships. You can also find your orders at any time by signing in to your account.

What payment methods do you accept?

You will see the available options at checkout, including major cards. Everything is handled securely through our checkout.

My order is taking longer than expected. What can I do?

Delivery times are estimates, and at busy times or over holidays some orders run a little slow. If yours is well past the estimate, write to us with your order number and we will chase it up.

Returns & refunds
What is your return policy?

As a general rule, most items can be returned within 15 days of delivery, unused and in their original packaging. Because pieces come from different makers, some set a shorter window and a few do not accept returns, which we note on the product. See Returns & Refunds for the full policy.

How do I return something?

Always contact us first. A return has to be arranged through us, and nothing should be sent back before you have our instructions. Write to us with your order number and we will take it from there.

Do you offer free returns?

No. The cost of a return varies and depends on the maker, and we will tell you what to expect before you send anything back.

Can I exchange an item?

Not as a rule. The simplest way to get something different is to return the original, if it is eligible, and place a new order.

How long does a refund take?

Once the maker has received and checked your return, we process the refund within 5 to 10 business days. From there it usually takes a few more business days to appear, depending on your bank or card provider.

What if my item arrives damaged or faulty?

Get in touch as soon as you can, ideally with a photo or two. We will look into it with the maker and, depending on the case, put it right with a replacement, a repair, or a refund.

Makers & giving
I make things for cats. Can you carry my work?

Quite possibly. We are always looking for makers of good, well-built things. Our Partnership page explains how working together tends to go.

Do you give to cats in need?

Yes. A portion of our proceeds, from our own sales and from the commission we earn on partner sales alike, goes to cats who are still waiting for a home. You can read about it on our Giving page.
