The Pantanal is a single oak shield wrapped in thick 12mm sisal over a 37 by 36cm area, finished in a dark oak tone. Handmade to order in Devon, so each grain pattern is its own.
Choose pre-drilled holes at checkout to wall-mount it, or leave it plain and stand it on the adjustable legs. At 4.6kg it is lighter than the tall posts, which makes the wall option easy.

Sophisticated Scratch is a small family workshop in Devon, England, at work since 2017. Each piece is cut and built to order by hand from sustainable English oak, so the wait is a little longer than a mass-market post and no two are quite alike.
Why oak and sisal
Solid oak gives the weight that keeps a scratcher from tipping when a cat throws itself at it, and the sisal rope is the texture cats actually want to work. The natural oak limbs mean the grain and shape vary from one to the next, which is the point.
It solves scratching in small rooms where a full post will not fit.
