The Eco-Scratch keeps things simple: a hand-selected solid oak base and a heavy timber core with no added finish, so the natural checks and cracks in the wood are part of the look.
It stands 70cm with 10mm sisal over a wide 52 by 36cm area, built to take up to two years of daily scratching. Adjustable feet level it, and the re-sisal service refreshes the rope when it wears.

Sophisticated Scratch is a small family workshop in Devon, England, at work since 2017. Each piece is cut and built to order by hand from sustainable English oak, so the wait is a little longer than a mass-market post and no two are quite alike.
Why oak and sisal
Solid oak gives the weight that keeps a scratcher from tipping when a cat throws itself at it, and the sisal rope is the texture cats actually want to work. The natural oak limbs mean the grain and shape vary from one to the next, which is the point.
