Handcrafted in Devon from solid oak, with a trunk circumference of 27cm and a total height of 71cm that suits most adult cats. The 8.2kg base gives it a stable footing for a firm scratch.
The 12mm sisal is wound by hand over a 31 by 33cm area. Assembly is simple with no tools, and the re-sisal service is there when the rope eventually wears.

Sophisticated Scratch is a small family workshop in Devon, England, at work since 2017. Each piece is cut and built to order by hand from sustainable English oak, so the wait is a little longer than a mass-market post and no two are quite alike.
Why oak and sisal
Solid oak gives the weight that keeps a scratcher from tipping when a cat throws itself at it, and the sisal rope is the texture cats actually want to work. The natural oak limbs mean the grain and shape vary from one to the next, which is the point.
