Desco is the feeder that started MiaCara's run of design awards, and this is the powder-coated aluminum version with stainless steel bowls. The frame lifts the food to a height that lets a cat eat without hunching, which is easier on the neck and the digestion, and the fine-textured finish comes in colors that suit a kitchen rather than clash with it. It picked up a German Design Award Special Mention in 2019.
Silicone rings seat the two bowls so they do not rattle or slide, and slip-proof feet keep the whole thing quiet through a meal. The stainless bowls lift out for the dishwasher and can be replaced on their own down the line.
A German design house
MiaCara is a family run German label from Herzogenaurach, started by Sebastian and Barbara Zweig. It began with their Labrador, Cara, who turned her nose up at a cheap foam cushion, and grew into a full design house that launched its cat line in 2015. The credo is form follows function, innovate rather than imitate, so every piece is drawn to work first and then to sit quietly in a room.
Made in Europe, made to last
Most of the range is manufactured in Germany and Europe from hand picked suppliers, under fair conditions and short transport routes. MiaCara leans on recycled materials wherever it can: felt spun from recycled PET bottles, recycled aluminium, recycled foam, and fabric made from upcycled ocean plastic through the Seaqual initiative. Packaging is FSC certified or recycled, and the workshop has run on certified green electricity since 2021.
Award winning design
MiaCara's work has been recognised with design awards, among them a German Design Award and a Red Dot, and each piece is credited to the studio or designer behind it.
Desco earned its awards, but the raised height is the part that truly eases a cat's meal, and that is why it is here. The powder-coated version suits kitchens that want a little color without losing the clean line.
