This Desco swaps the metal frame for bent plywood, so the warmth of real wood carries the twin bowls. The shaping is the same clever idea, a raised platform that lets a cat eat upright and easy, dressed here in ash or walnut tones that lean into a natural interior.
The stainless steel bowls sit in silicone buffers that stop the clatter, and slip-proof feet hold the feeder in place. Bowls come out for the dishwasher and can be replaced on their own. Keep the wood away from standing water and it holds up for years.
A German design house
MiaCara is a family run German label from Herzogenaurach, started by Sebastian and Barbara Zweig. It began with their Labrador, Cara, who turned her nose up at a cheap foam cushion, and grew into a full design house that launched its cat line in 2015. The credo is form follows function, innovate rather than imitate, so every piece is drawn to work first and then to sit quietly in a room.
Made in Europe, made to last
Most of the range is manufactured in Germany and Europe from hand picked suppliers, under fair conditions and short transport routes. MiaCara leans on recycled materials wherever it can: felt spun from recycled PET bottles, recycled aluminium, recycled foam, and fabric made from upcycled ocean plastic through the Seaqual initiative. Packaging is FSC certified or recycled, and the workshop has run on certified green electricity since 2021.
Award winning design
MiaCara's work has been recognised with design awards, among them a German Design Award and a Red Dot, and each piece is credited to the studio or designer behind it.
Warm, natural rooms rarely suit cool metal, so the wood Desco exists for them. It keeps the smart raised design in a material that gets along with oak floors and linen.
