Smart Tech / Electronics Compliance Policy
Smart Tech & Electronics Compliance Policy
Every electronic product we carry — from GPS trackers and water fountains to automatic litter systems — is evaluated against U.S. federal safety, emissions, and consumer-protection law before it reaches this store. This page explains exactly what we require, why we require it, and what it means for you as a buyer.
What this policy covers,
and why it exists.
The Meow Picks is operated by Aesthi Technologies Inc., a company registered in the United States (Business Registration No. 10593109; EIN 42-2242249). We sell exclusively to customers within the United States. This policy applies to every electronic, battery-powered, wireless, or motorized product listed in our Technology category and to any electronic components included in Lifestyle products.
As a multi-brand retailer — not the manufacturer of these products — our role is to vet what we list, disclose compliance information accurately, and serve as your primary point of contact for any issue that arises after purchase. We do not manufacture, re-label, or modify any product we sell. Where a manufacturer holds a certification (such as an FCC authorization), that authorization belongs to the maker and is referenced here for transparency.
This policy is written specifically for The Meow Picks product range. It is not a generic template. Every section below reflects the actual product categories we carry.
Products covered by this policy
FCC Compliance &
Radio Frequency Authorization
Any product that intentionally or unintentionally emits radio frequency energy — including GPS trackers, Bluetooth-enabled devices, and wireless connectivity modules — must be authorized under the FCC rules before it may be marketed or sold in the United States.
The Meow Picks only lists wireless and radio-frequency products that carry valid FCC equipment authorization under Title 47 CFR Part 15. This authorization is obtained by the manufacturer (not the retailer) and attests that the device has been tested and found to comply with FCC limits for radio frequency emissions and interference. We verify that the FCC ID is disclosed by the manufacturer before a product is listed on our store.
FCC ID disclosure: Where required, the FCC ID is marked on the product itself, on its packaging, or disclosed in the product manual supplied by the manufacturer. For GPS trackers such as the Weenect XS, which uses a built-in SIM and cellular/GNSS technology, the relevant FCC ID is printed on the device housing or included in the documentation shipped with the unit.
Part 15 statement: Products operating under FCC Part 15 authorization are subject to the following conditions, as required by 47 CFR §15.19(a)(3): (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
We do not modify, de-label, or alter any FCC-authorized device in a way that would void its authorization. If you believe a product you have received has been modified or does not carry a required FCC marking, contact us immediately at josh@themeowpicks.com.
Intentional Radiators
GPS trackers, Bluetooth modules, and any product that intentionally transmits radio frequency energy must hold FCC Part 15 Subpart B or Subpart C authorization, as applicable to the device type. We verify this authorization before listing any such product.
Unintentional Radiators
Motorized products such as automatic litter boxes and circulating water fountains may emit incidental radio frequency energy from their motors and electronic control boards. These products must comply with FCC Part 15 Class B limits for unintentional radiators used in residential environments.
How We Check Compliance
Before a technology product is listed on The Meow Picks, we confirm with the manufacturer that FCC authorization has been obtained for the markets in which it will be sold. Products imported for sale in the United States without valid FCC authorization are not listed, regardless of their quality in other respects.
Battery Safety
Standards & Requirements
Battery-powered products — including GPS trackers and any other device using rechargeable or replaceable batteries — are subject to specific U.S. federal safety standards. We require that any battery-powered product we sell meets the standards outlined below.
Lithium-ion and lithium polymer batteries — used in rechargeable GPS trackers and similar devices — must be tested to UL 1642 (Standard for Lithium Batteries) and UL 2054 (Household and Commercial Batteries). These standards set requirements for protection against short-circuiting, overcharge, over-discharge, forced discharge, thermal abuse, and mechanical stress. We confirm with manufacturers that applicable battery cells and assemblies meet these standards before listing the product.
Button cell and coin cell batteries — used in certain small accessories — must comply with 16 CFR Part 1263 (Safety Standard for Button Cell or Coin Batteries), enforced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). This regulation implements the Reese's Law requirements for child-resistant battery compartments and mandates safety warnings on product packaging. We do not knowingly list any product containing a button cell or coin battery that fails to meet these requirements.
Important Battery Safety Warnings
- Keep all batteries, including button cells, out of reach of pets and children at all times.
- Do not allow any person or animal to ingest a battery. Button cell batteries can cause severe internal injury if swallowed. Seek immediate medical attention if ingestion is suspected.
- Replace batteries only with the identical type and specification stated in the product manual. Do not mix battery chemistries or use batteries of incorrect voltage.
- Do not attempt to recharge a non-rechargeable battery, or to disassemble, crush, or puncture a battery of any type.
- Do not expose batteries to extreme heat, open flame, or water.
- Dispose of used batteries in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Many municipalities offer battery recycling drop-off points. Do not place lithium batteries in household trash.
- If a battery becomes hot, swollen, or emits an unusual odor, discontinue use immediately and contact us at josh@themeowpicks.com.
Check the specification
Always use the battery type stated on the product or in its manual — voltage, chemistry, and size must match exactly.
Secure the compartment
After replacing batteries, always ensure battery compartment covers are fully closed and, where a screw is provided, secured so young children and pets cannot open them.
Charge correctly
For rechargeable devices, use only the cable or adapter supplied with the product. Do not leave a device charging unattended for extended periods or overnight on a soft surface.
Recycle responsibly
Lithium-ion cells must not enter the general waste stream. Use a designated battery recycling point. Many electronics retailers and municipal centers accept batteries at no charge.
Electrical Safety &
Charger / Adapter Requirements
Products that plug into a U.S. electrical outlet or include an AC-to-DC adapter must meet applicable safety standards for insulation, thermal protection, and electrical integrity. We verify this with manufacturers before any mains-powered product is added to our catalog.
AC adapters and chargers: Any power supply or charging adapter included with or sold alongside a product must meet applicable U.S. safety standards for electrical insulation, short-circuit protection, thermal protection, and surge protection. Where products carry UL, ETL, or equivalent Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) certification for their power supply, that information is noted by the manufacturer and should be visible on the adapter housing.
Pump-driven appliances: The Hoopo Hydr Water Fountain uses a low-voltage, submersible pump powered via a DC adapter. This product is designed for continuous operation in a domestic setting, and its pump and adapter are intended for the voltage standard used in the United States (110–120 V, 60 Hz). Do not operate this product on a different electrical standard without verified, appropriate conversion equipment.
Thermal safety: All electronic products we list are required by their manufacturers to have been tested to ensure safe operating temperature ranges under normal and reasonably foreseeable use conditions. If a product becomes unusually hot during normal operation, discontinue use and contact us before further use.
What "imported" means for you: Several products in our Technology range are manufactured outside the United States and imported. This does not mean they lack U.S. compliance — it means they were designed and tested to meet U.S. standards and are lawfully imported for sale here. We confirm this during our vetting process. The word "Imported" on a product listing simply identifies where it was manufactured, not whether it is safe or authorized for U.S. sale.
Water Resistance &
Ingress Protection Ratings
Several products we carry operate in environments where exposure to water or moisture is expected — including circulating water fountains and outdoor GPS trackers. We require that any product marketed as water-resistant carries a verifiable ingress protection (IP) rating tested to IEC 60529 or equivalent standards.
Understanding IP ratings: An ingress protection (IP) rating is a two-digit code defined by the international standard IEC 60529. The first digit rates protection against solid particles (such as dust); the second digit rates protection against liquids. For example, IP68 — which applies to the Weenect XS GPS tracker — means the device is dust-tight (6) and protected against continuous immersion in water under specified conditions (8).
What the rating does and does not mean: An IP rating is a tested protection level under defined laboratory conditions. It does not mean a device is suitable for every wet environment without limitation. IP68 on the Weenect XS tracker means it withstood immersion according to the manufacturer's specified depth and duration — it does not mean it is suitable for swimming, high-pressure jets, or salt water unless the manufacturer expressly states so.
Water fountain products: The Hoopo Hydr Water Fountain is a mains-powered appliance designed to hold and circulate standing water. Its low-voltage pump is rated for submersion in the water bowl. The external housing and electrical connections are not designed for water exposure. Keep the adapter and cable connections dry at all times. Do not submerge the housing in water.
Automatic litter boxes: The Hoopo Magna Automatic Litter Box contains electronic motors and sensors. Its housing is not rated for water immersion. Clean only as directed in the manufacturer's care instructions — wipe the housing; do not submerge it.
IP68 — Weenect XS
The Weenect XS Cat GPS Tracker carries an IP68 waterproof rating, meaning it is dust-tight and protected against prolonged submersion under the manufacturer's specified conditions. It is designed to withstand rain, wet grass, and the outdoors. It is not rated for swimming pools or salt water.
Splash-Safe Design — Hoopo Hydr
The Hoopo Hydr Water Fountain contains a pump designed for water contact within the bowl. The power adapter and cable are not waterproof — keep all electrical connections dry. Clean the removable bowl and pump according to the care guide; do not expose the base electronics to water.
Internal Electronics Protected — Hoopo Magna
The Hoopo Magna Automatic Litter Box uses electronic motors and sensors housed within a sealed polypropylene shell. These components are not rated for water immersion. Clean only as directed — wipe surfaces; never submerge the unit or allow water to enter the motor or sensor compartments.
Accurate Product Information
& Listing Standards
Every product listing on The Meow Picks is held to a standard of truthfulness and completeness. We do not overstate features, inflate specifications, or use language that could mislead a buyer about what a product does, what it is made of, or what regulatory approvals it carries.
The Federal Trade Commission Act (15 U.S.C. §45) prohibits unfair or deceptive acts or practices in commerce, and the FTC's guides and rules set specific requirements for advertising claims. Our listing standards reflect these requirements:
Dimensions, weight, materials, and power specifications shown on each product page are taken directly from manufacturer documentation. Where a manufacturer updates a specification, we update the listing. If you receive a product that materially differs from the listed specification, contact us and we will address it under our refund policy.
Each product listing shows the country of manufacture under "Made in." Where that information is "Imported," it reflects that the manufacturer has not specified a single country of origin on their documentation. We do not fabricate or omit country of origin information. This disclosure meets the FTC's country-of-origin marking guidelines for imported goods.
Prices shown are in U.S. dollars. Promotional codes (such as PROMO30 on the Weenect tracker) are clearly described, with their applicable products and limitations stated at the point of promotion. We do not artificially inflate a regular price to make a discount appear larger than it is.
The Weenect XS GPS Tracker requires a cellular subscription (provided by Weenect, not by The Meow Picks) to function after any included subscription period. This requirement and the available options are stated clearly on the product listing page, in the description, and in the variant selector. We do not obscure the ongoing cost of subscription-dependent products.
The Meow Picks is an independent retailer. Brand names displayed on product pages — including Weenect and Hoopo — belong to their respective manufacturers. Listing a product does not imply that the manufacturer endorses, sponsors, or is formally affiliated with The Meow Picks or Aesthi Technologies Inc., unless expressly stated. We comply with the FTC's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255).
We only display products as available for purchase when they are in stock or can be fulfilled within the stated delivery window. Under the FTC's Mail, Internet, and Telephone Order Rule (16 CFR Part 435), we are required to ship within the timeframe stated at checkout or notify you of a delay and give you the option to cancel for a full refund. This rule applies to every order placed on our store.
Your Consumer Rights
& Our Obligations
Purchasing a technology product from The Meow Picks comes with a clear set of rights under U.S. federal and state law. These rights exist independently of any policy we publish, and they cannot be waived or reduced by any terms on this page.
Below is a plain-language summary of the most relevant protections. This summary does not replace the full legal texts, which are available at the sources linked in each entry.
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. §2301 et seq.) governs written warranties on consumer products sold in the United States for more than a certain threshold price. Where a manufacturer provides a written warranty for a product we list, that warranty must be made available before you purchase, and the manufacturer must fulfill it as stated. We pass manufacturer warranty terms through to you and serve as your point of contact. Manufacturer warranties do not limit any other rights you hold under state implied warranty law.
California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Our full privacy practices are set out in our Privacy Policy.
Under the FTC Mail, Internet, and Telephone Order Merchandise Rule (16 CFR Part 435), we must ship your order within the stated timeframe. If we cannot, we must notify you promptly and give you the option to cancel for a full refund. We do not charge your payment method until your order is ready to ship. For questions about your shipment, see our Shipping Policy.
The exact return window, condition requirements, and refund process for each product are set out in our Refund Policy. Items that arrive damaged, defective, or materially different from the listing are handled at no cost to you — contact us with your order number and photos, and we will make it right. Refunds are issued to the original payment method.
Every U.S. state has its own consumer protection statutes that may apply to your purchase, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. These rights exist independently of any written warranty or policy we publish and cannot be disclaimed by a retailer in most states. Our policies are designed to operate alongside, not in place of, these statutory protections.
Product Safety Notices
& Recall Procedures
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is the federal agency responsible for protecting the public from unreasonable risks of injury or death associated with consumer products. We monitor CPSC notices that relate to the categories we carry and act immediately when a recall or safety notice affects a product we list or have sold.
How recall notifications work at The Meow Picks: If the CPSC or a manufacturer issues a recall or safety notice for a product we have sold, we will notify affected customers directly by email using the order contact information we hold, stop listing the product immediately, and provide full instructions on how to proceed — which may include a refund, replacement, or return at no cost to you. We do not wait for a customer to discover a recall independently.
Reporting a safety concern to us: If you believe a product you have purchased from us has caused an injury or presents a safety risk, contact us immediately at josh@themeowpicks.com or by phone at +1 347-352-5552. We take every safety report seriously, investigate promptly, and will escalate to the relevant manufacturer and regulatory authority when appropriate.
Reporting a safety concern to the CPSC: You may also report product safety problems directly to the CPSC at SaferProducts.gov. This database is publicly searchable and is used by the CPSC to monitor product hazards across the market. Reporting to the CPSC directly is your right and is entirely separate from contacting us.
Staying informed: To check for current recalls on any consumer product, visit the CPSC's official recall search at cpsc.gov/Recalls. We also monitor the CPSC's recall database for categories relevant to our store on an ongoing basis.
General Product Safety Reminders for Electronic Pet Products
- Do not allow pets to chew on power cables, charging cables, or any electrical lead. Inspect cables before every use.
- Do not operate any electrical appliance near an unsupervised pet if the appliance has external cables the animal can reach.
- Keep electronics away from water unless the product is explicitly rated for water contact. Refer to the IP rating section above.
- If you smell burning, see sparks, or notice any product becoming excessively hot, disconnect it from power immediately and do not use it again until the issue is identified.
- Do not cover or enclose electronic products in ways that restrict ventilation, particularly while they are operating or charging.
Warranty & Technical Support
What Is Covered & How to Use It
Where a manufacturer provides a warranty for their product, that warranty is honored through The Meow Picks as your point of contact. We act as the intermediary between you and the maker, so you never need to navigate an overseas manufacturer's support system alone.
Manufacturer warranties: Warranty coverage terms — including duration, what is covered, and what voids coverage — are set by the individual manufacturer and stated on the relevant product page. These terms are provided in addition to, and do not limit, any rights you hold under U.S. federal or state law, including rights available under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and state implied warranty statutes.
Firmware and software updates: For connected products such as the Weenect XS GPS Tracker, which operate through a companion app, the manufacturer may release firmware updates or app updates from time to time. These updates may add features, fix known issues, or address security matters. We recommend keeping devices updated per the manufacturer's guidance. Instructions for updates are provided by the manufacturer in the app or product documentation, not by The Meow Picks.
Replacement parts and accessories: Where replacement parts (such as the Hoopo Hydr Replacement Filters and Replacement Pump) are available through our store, they are listed alongside the main product. Using non-manufacturer-approved replacement parts may affect product performance and, in some cases, safety ratings or warranty coverage.
