Privacy Policy
This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information The Meow Picks collects when you shop for furniture, technology, or lifestyle products for your cat, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have over it under U.S. federal and state law.
Overview & who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy is issued by Aesthi Technologies Inc., doing business as The Meow Picks, registered in Dover, Delaware, and applies to everyone who visits themeowpicks.com, creates an account, places an order, subscribes to our emails, or contacts our support team. It covers every product category we sell — furniture, technology, and lifestyle goods for cats — and every U.S. state we ship to, since we sell and ship exclusively within the United States.
This page works alongside two other pages that go into more operational detail: our Cookie Policy, which explains the specific cookies and tracking tools we use, and our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, where you can exercise your state-law opt-out rights directly. Where this policy summarizes a topic those pages cover in full, the linked page controls the operational detail.
Information we collect
These are the categories of personal information we actually collect through this store, described the way we actually use them:
- Identifiers — name, shipping and billing address, email, phone number, and account or order ID, collected when you check out, create an account, subscribe to our list, or contact support.
- Commercial information — products viewed and purchased across our Furniture, Technology, and Lifestyle categories, order history, cart activity, and any return or warranty requests you make.
- Internet or network activity — pages viewed, links clicked, time spent on a collection page, referring site, device and browser type, collected through cookies and similar technologies described in our Cookie Policy.
- Geolocation data — the shipping address you provide, and city/state-level location estimated from your IP address, used only to calculate shipping cost and sales tax. We do not collect precise GPS location.
- Support communications — the content of emails, live chat transcripts, and phone notes when you contact us, retained to resolve your inquiry and improve support quality.
- Payment information — processed directly by Shopify's payment infrastructure and our payment processors. We do not store full card numbers on our own servers.
- Inferences — generalized preferences drawn from browsing and purchase patterns, such as an interest in furniture versus technology products, used to personalize recommendations and marketing you have opted into.
We do not knowingly collect biometric identifiers, precise real-time geolocation, government ID numbers, health information about you, or Social Security numbers through this storefront.
How we use your information
- To process, fulfill, ship, and provide order confirmations and tracking for your purchases.
- To provide customer support, handle returns, warranty claims, and respond to your questions.
- To calculate accurate shipping costs and state/local sales tax based on your delivery address.
- To detect and prevent fraud, unauthorized transactions, and abuse of our checkout and account systems.
- To send transactional emails, such as order and shipping confirmations, which are not optional while you have an active order.
- To send marketing emails and offers, but only where you have affirmatively opted in, and only until you unsubscribe.
- To operate, secure, and improve themeowpicks.com, including through the analytics described in our Cookie Policy.
- To comply with tax, accounting, consumer protection, and other legal obligations that apply to a U.S. retailer.
Cookies & tracking technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, understand how shoppers move through our Furniture, Technology, and Lifestyle categories, and, where you have not opted out, show you relevant advertising on other sites. This includes essential cookies our storefront needs to function, analytics cookies that help us understand site performance, and advertising cookies used by tools such as social and search advertising platforms.
Full detail on every category of cookie we use, how long each is retained, and how to manage them individually is set out in our Cookie Policy. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, and where a cookie qualifies as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under state law, you can opt out specifically through the page described in Section 06.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or third parties for money, and we never share more than a given service provider needs to do its job. We share limited personal information with:
- Our e-commerce platform — Shopify, which hosts our store, processes checkout, and stores order records on our behalf.
- Payment processors — to securely authorize and process your payment; we do not receive or store your full card number.
- Shipping carriers & fulfillment partners — to pack, ship, and deliver your order, and to provide you with tracking.
- Email & marketing platforms — to send order confirmations and, where you have opted in, marketing communications.
- Analytics & advertising partners — to understand site performance and, where not opted out, deliver relevant advertising, as described in our Cookie Policy.
- Legal & safety — where required to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal obligation, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Meow Picks, our customers, or the public.
If Aesthi Technologies Inc. is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will notify affected customers before their information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
"Sale" & "sharing" under state privacy law
We have never sold personal information to a third party for money. However, several state privacy laws — starting with California's — define "sale" and "sharing" broadly enough to include certain advertising and analytics cookies, even where no money changes hands. Where a tool we use meets that legal definition, we treat it that way and give you a direct opt-out.
You can review exactly what this means, set your opt-out preferences, and read about your rights as an authorized agent or on behalf of a minor, on our dedicated Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. We also honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as a valid opt-out request wherever state law requires it.
Data retention
We keep order and transaction records for as long as needed to fulfill your purchase, handle returns and warranty claims, and meet tax and accounting obligations under U.S. and state law — generally for the duration required by applicable retention statutes. Account information is kept while your account remains active, and marketing contact information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Support communications are kept long enough to resolve your inquiry and maintain a service history, then deleted or anonymized on a routine schedule.
Data security
We rely on Shopify's PCI-compliant infrastructure to process and transmit payment data, and we restrict internal access to personal information to staff who need it to fulfill orders or provide support. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. If we ever become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required under applicable state breach-notification law.
Your privacy rights & how to use them
Depending on your state, you may have the right to: know what personal information we hold about you; access a copy of it; correct inaccurate information; delete it; opt out of its sale, sharing, or use for targeted advertising; and limit our use of sensitive personal information. We apply the substance of these rights to every customer, in every state we ship to, regardless of whether that state's law technically requires it of a business our size.
To exercise an opt-out of sale/sharing or targeted advertising, use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. For access, correction, deletion, or any other privacy request, email josh@themeowpicks.com or call +1 347-352-5552 with your name and order or account email so we can verify your identity, and we will respond within 1 business day and complete verified requests within the timeframe your state's law requires. You may also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, as described on our Do Not Sell page.
State-specific privacy rights
We ship only within the United States, so these are the state comprehensive privacy laws that govern your data. Thresholds and enforcement differ by state; a full, regularly-updated breakdown and the tools to exercise these rights live on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page.
Right to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of sale/sharing; Global Privacy Control honored as a valid opt-out signal; opt-in required for consumers under 16.
Right to access, correct, delete, and opt out of sale, targeted advertising, and certain profiling; universal opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control are recognized.
Right to access, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal data and, in most of these states, targeted advertising and significant-decision profiling.
Same core rights to access, delete, and opt out of sale and targeted advertising, applied without a minimum company revenue threshold.
Right to access, delete, and opt out of sale and targeted advertising, plus state-specific protections: opt-in consent for teens (NJ), stricter sensitive-data sale limits (MD), and disclosure of named data recipients on request (RI).
Requires consent before collecting or sharing consumer health data; not applicable in the ordinary course, since we do not collect consumer health data through this store.
More states continue to pass comprehensive privacy laws; we update this section and our Do Not Sell page as new laws take effect. If any part of this policy conflicts with a mandatory right you hold under your state's law, your state's law controls.
Children's privacy
This storefront is intended for adult shoppers purchasing goods for their cats. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in a manner that would trigger the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of any consumer under 18, or run advertising campaigns directed at minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, contact us using the details in Section 14 and we will delete it promptly.
Marketing communications
We send marketing emails only to customers who have opted in at checkout, through our subscribe form, or another affirmative action, in line with the CAN-SPAM Act. Every marketing email includes a working unsubscribe link, and you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting transactional emails related to an active order. Transactional emails — order confirmations, shipping updates, and support replies — are sent regardless of your marketing preference, since they are necessary to complete a purchase you have already made.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our practices, products, or the law change. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and, for material changes affecting how we use previously collected information, we will provide additional notice — such as a banner on our site or an email to registered customers — before the change takes effect.
