Built around a massive solid oak base of 56 by 49cm with a black resin inlay, this one-off tree weighs 18.7kg and stays put. The oak climbing steps carry a spiral sisal detail that is as decorative as it is useful.
The 48 by 40cm sleeping platform is topped with sheepskin in otter brown or cream, with rare breed pictured subject to availability. A detachable 12mm sisal post, over a 33 by 35cm area, makes re-sisaling simple. It stands 78cm.

Sophisticated Scratch is a small family workshop in Devon, England, at work since 2017. Each piece is cut and built to order by hand from sustainable English oak, so the wait is a little longer than a mass-market post and no two are quite alike.
Why oak and sisal
Solid oak gives the weight that keeps a scratcher from tipping when a cat throws itself at it, and the sisal rope is the texture cats actually want to work. The natural oak limbs mean the grain and shape vary from one to the next, which is the point.
