The base is poured by hand in marbled blue resin and set with an inlaid oak leaf and acorn emblem in clear resin, a small signature detail. At 10.8kg it gives the post a solid footing.
The solid oak post carries 12mm sisal over a wide 45 by 41cm area and stands 69cm on adjustable legs. It is a single one-off piece with a two-year guarantee and no assembly needed.

Sophisticated Scratch is a small family workshop in Devon, England, at work since 2017. Each piece is cut and built to order by hand from sustainable English oak, so the wait is a little longer than a mass-market post and no two are quite alike.
Why oak and sisal
Solid oak gives the weight that keeps a scratcher from tipping when a cat throws itself at it, and the sisal rope is the texture cats actually want to work. The natural oak limbs mean the grain and shape vary from one to the next, which is the point.
